Late November was my last wedding of 2016 and it was a good one. I started shooting with the girls getting ready at an Airbnb apartment in Centretown in the early afternoon. Thai food, drinks and some physiotherapy later and we were off to the Officers' Mess for first look and family portraits.
Saroeun and Derek were so chill we had lots of time to relax before the ceremony. Once the guests started to arrive at the beautiful, Victorian house they were ready to go. A small bridal party accompanied the bride and groom to the officiant who was Derek's sister-in-law. Quick, but personal ceremony and then dinner time.
Since it was that close to Christmas (I mean, it was almost December) the whole house was decorated with Christmas wreaths, bows, candles and a glittery tree. And dinner was nothing other than turkey. Yum! Sweet speeches followed with Derek's aunts singing their very own song they wrote for the couple to the tune of Harvest Moon (if you don't know it, listen here) by Neil Young. It's become a wedding tradition. 🙂
And lastly the party on the dance floor. Derek warned me about his family/cousins beforehand, but I didn't know what to think. Let's just say they know how to get it on!
Enjoy the photos! And to Saroeun & Derek, congratulations again!!
